In your opinion, what importance, if any, does the existence of a Jewish state have to you personally and to Jewish people in general?
“We need a place to call home, a place that is 100% welcoming of jews. Every country/person has an agenda. A Jewish state, has its own agenda – the acceptance and welcoming of Jews, no matter their religious orientation, or physical appearance.”
Do you feel committed in some way to defend the future existence of Israel?
“Yes – it is my duty.”
Do you feel morally responsible for Israel’s actions (such as its management of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict)?
“Yes, because an Israeli and a Jew are the same.”
In your opinion, does Israel have an obligation to defend and help Jewish communities in need?
“Yes, Israel’s obligation extends to all Jews”
Have you ever been to Israel?
“Yes – birthright, during the Gaza conflict of 2014. I understood that Israelis are just normal people, who want to defend themselves and their way of life. I also learnt that she is never the aggressor, only the defender.”
Can you tell us a bit about the Jewish community in your hometown? Is it organized? Are there community activities?
“In Brisbane its very small. There is one rabbi in my town. The Jewish student union (of which i am the president) provides activities for the student youth. There is only one synagogue.”
